“With the good Laird on his side and a Maui breeze to his board, Albee Layer stuck the first-ever double alley-oop in 2012. Dizzy hopefuls Jordy, Julian, Josh, John and John are now using the World Tour sabbatical to play catch-up.”

In late October, Balaram Stack’s homeland of Long Island was dreadfully rendered by Hurricane Sandy. Bal, being the Renaissance man he is, did everything from relentlessly advocating and donating to restoration efforts to scribbling vulgar things about Sandy on the bottom of his board to show his concern. Here he is under the lip in Costa Rica, earlier in the year.

“We often think that holding on makes us strong, but sometimes true strength is found in letting go. Letting go of what we think we want, all of our assumptions and preconceptions, allows us to accept an infinitely wider view of life. Letting go is a great and wild adventure. Creed McTaggart goes one better by never grabbing hold in the first place.”
